Hi there

I have a Server Connect Action File that inserts a news item with a thumbnail image.

I've put in steps that use a condition to check if the width is greater that the height and if so it crops the width to match the height, and if not then it crops the height to match the width. This to make it square.

The problem is that it works if the image is landscape or square, but if it's portrait then the action appears to just stop altogether. I've double checked the steps and they appear to be all correct.

I can't see what's causing the problem. Putting on Debug and checking the console (F12) doesn't reveal anything, just a blank console window.

You can see the steps in the Server Action here: prntscr.com/m43eaa

PHP file that's created by this Server Action below:

Please can you check to see what's causing the action to hang?

thanks
Bruce

Hi there

Has anyone there been able to look into this for me?

Hello,
I don't see anything wrong in your steps.

Is the Image uploaded on the server at all?

PS - please don't post such long PHP code in the topics.

Hi Teodor. Thanks for responding.

Sorry about that, I pasted in the code so you could see what was going wrong. The more information, the better when it comes to bug fixing I believe. Especially when we're relying on digital communication, where there can be delays between posts and replies at times. The fewer steps to get to the answer the better

Would have preferred to just upload the file to be honest but I can't see how to do that here. Did you get a chance to look through the code? I can't see it in my post anymore but hopefully you still have a copy there.

The image is uploaded whichever orientation it is. But if it's portrait orientation then it doesn't get cropped and resized at all. If it's landscape, then it does get cropped and resized.

Yes, i checked your php code but nothing seems wrong there.
Is this happening with all photos, or just with some of them?

Hi Teodor. Sorry for the delay in replying.

It appears to be failing with any picture in portrait orientation. They all upload just fine but after that no other steps are executed.

Have tried with pictures taken from camera, stock photography and pictures created from scratch.

Both JPG and PNG filetypes.

Hi again Teodor

If you'd like I can try to duplicate it on a separate server space and then give you full access to it.

Let me know if this will help

Hi Teodor

Luckily my client hasn't noticed this bug yet, but I'm now using the same procedure on a new website.

Created it completely from scratch and the same bug is there.

Did you get a chance to look at it and find the problem?

cheers
Bruce
